Community Day - August 2026

P4YE joined the community day in Croydon to engage with residents and young people, capture their views and create content highlighting local perspectives on community safety. The team interviewed the Mayor, spoke with members of the public and invited young people to share how safe they feel in Croydon and what they believe would make the borough safer. Through on-camera surveys and the interactive Croydon Vibe Check Quiz, which brought guests and young people together, P4YE created opportunities for conversations, participation and youth voice. The activity helped capture community perspectives in a fun and engaging way, ensuring young people's views on safety were heard and brought into wider conversations about making Croydon a safer place.

Community Day - August 2026

About the project

P4YE took part in Croydon's Community Day, using the opportunity to engage with local residents and young people around an important issue: community safety. The aim was to capture people's views on how safe they feel in Croydon, understand what would make them feel safer and create opportunities for young people to have their voices heard through digital content and interactive activities.

What happened

The youth team carried out a range of engagement activities throughout the day. This included recording an interview with the Mayor, speaking to members of the public using a roaming microphone and inviting young people to take part in short on-camera surveys.

Young people were asked two key questions: "On a scale of 1–10, how safe do you feel in Croydon and why?" and "What would make Croydon safer?" Their responses helped capture personal experiences, concerns and suggestions for improving safety across the borough.

The team also delivered the Croydon Vibe Check Quiz, bringing VIP guests and young people together in a fun and interactive challenge. This created opportunities for informal conversations, positive engagement and connection between different members of the community.

Outcomes & impact

P4YE's involvement provided a platform for young people and residents to share their views on community safety in their own words. Through filming, surveys and interactive activities, the team captured local perspectives and encouraged conversations about what needs to change to help people feel safer in Croydon.

The day also demonstrated how creative approaches, digital media and youth-led engagement can make it easier for young people to participate in community discussions. By bringing young people's voices into a wider public event, P4YE helped ensure their experiences and ideas formed part of the conversation about building a safer Croydon.

Key takeaway: Giving young people a platform to speak up, share their experiences and help shape safer communities.
